While travelling to Great Grandma and Grandpa's house, the following conversation took place amongst my children:
One child: Do Grandma and Grandpa B have scorpions at their house?
Adult: No.
Children: That's so weird!
They then proceeded to talk about scorpions and how normal it is to have them around and how strange it would be to live some place that they didn't have to worry about scorpions.
And then there's the game they play: It's called "Scorpion" and they carefully walk around on their tiptoes to avoid being stung by a scorpion. It kind of reminds me of how I played "Hot Lava" with my siblings when we were growing up. Except, of course, the chance of my kids getting stung by a scorpion is real while the chance of me stepping in hot lava was not. Ah, life in the desert.....
Don't you love getting little glimpses into your kids' minds?
