March 2023

Here are some of the happenings from March:

Megan celebrated her half birthday.

Putting together the Legos. It was a creator set and she put together all three builds.

Megan and Matthew auditioned for and made the district honor band. They went to some practices after school and practiced at home. We enjoyed going to their concert. The music sounded amazing!

The entire 70 member band. They really did sound amazing.

Some Artemis pictures (some of which include children).
Snuggles with Megan.

Finding a leaf to eat.

Wearing bunny ears.

Belly rubs.

Artemis really likes her new bed that she can easily pull out of the crate and move around the house.

Matthew learning about the joy of rubik shapes (this one is not a cube).

Megan picking grapefruit.

We went to Feed My Starving Children.

We had "We love to be a family!" day. We started with a group hug and then picked up dog poop in the neighborhood. We went on a bike ride and did some puppet shows (Megan and Matthew did one together and U and Me did one together). We played a family game of Terraria. We had a progressive dinner: we went to one restaurant for salad, another for pizza and a third for dessert. It was a really nice day.

Mesquite March 2023

We dropped Artemis at Grandma and Grandpa O's on our way up to Cedar City so she had a bit of her own vacation.

I love these pictures showing her run.

Playing with toys.

Napping.

Blending in with the carpet.

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday with a rhubarb and lemon meringue pie.

We went to the donkey museum. The tank was a big hit.

Yummy dinner: U, Me, Grandma, Matthew, Megan with Grandpa in the mirror.

Grandma was going to have surgery right before we came but it got changed. She bought Megan and Matthew scrubs to help take care of her.

U, Me, Matthew and Artemis on a hike. Grandpa and Megan came too.

We had dinner by candlelight one evening. The wax made interesting patterns. It was like watching the formation of cave features: stalactites, stalagmites, columns and draperies.
The candle on the left has a large column while the one on the right has a drapery, stalactite and stalagmite.

See the wax flow?

U, Megan, Matthew and Me enjoying the entertainment.

We played a lot of games, especially of Oh Heck and Skyjo. This is one of Me's Skyjo hands.

Matthew and Megan enjoyed playing with Playmobil.

Megan and Artemis

Matthew and Megan swam in the 60 degree pool. Two days. Brrrr!

Megan and Matthew put on a concert for Grandma and Grandpa.

People enjoyed playing the music maker.

Megan and Matthew with the bonsai tree they put together.

The kids enjoyed reading in the hammock.

Cedar City March 2023

For Spring Break, we headed out to visit the grandparents. We arrived in Cedar City in time to go to church with Grandma and Grandpa A.

We put together quite a few puzzles. Grandma, Me, Megan

Matthew and Megan on a walk with the temple in the background.

We visited the travelling tabernacle, a recreation of the children of Israel's tabernacle. Here are some pictures from the Holy Place.

Me with the altar of incense.

Grandpa, Matthew, Grandma, Me and Megan with the Arch of the Covenant.

Megan and Matthew enjoyed creating Bible stories with this flip book.

On Monday, we headed to Zion National Park. We first went to the east section of the park. We hiked the Canyon Overlook Trail.

View from the overlook.

Once we finished exploring the east side of the park, we rode the shuttle up the canyon. Our first hike was to the Lower Emerald Pools.
Some of the scenery.

The water was really pouring over the falls.

The backside of water!

Grandpa, Me and Grandma.

We then went up to the end of the shuttle route and walked the Riverside Trail.
There were lots of extra waterfalls due to recent rain and snow melt.

Me, U, Matthew and Grandma at the end of the trail. The Narrows were closed due to the waterflow.

Grandma, Megan and Me went up Cedar Canyon to play in the snow a bit.

Megan really liked this little hill.

We bought sandwiches for lunch and then had some crepes. They were delicious!

There was lots of ping pong and foosball.
