Happy Birthday Garkay!

Who is Garkay you say? Good question...

Garkay is one of U's co-workers. He and U were the ones who worked together during the technology start up. As such, U would talk about him a lot. The kids have taken a great interest in him although they have yet to meet him.

Today is his birthday (Also Star Wars day!) so the kids drew him some pictures:

Megan drew some hearts and a rainbow. She also drew Chewbacca and Yoda with his lightsaber.

Matthew's picture is of bologna hitting a mountain that has earwax on it.

Where daddy works

Conversation on the way to school a couple weeks ago:

Megan: What's that smoke?
Me: That's Intel.
Megan: Oh. (Pause) That's like a really far away country.

Note that the "smoke" is actually steam. And the "really far away country" was a little over a mile away. I love hearing kids' thought processes!

(As a side note, Matthew was concerned that daddy's work was smokey and thought that he should go to the rescue.)

"Hooshing" the yard

We did a little yard work on Saturday and Matthew decided he would "hoosh" the yard like I was doing.  He was very diligent about it and went all over the yard to try and suck up leaves.

A Day Off

Last week, U had a day off of work. Yes, a whole day. It was his only day off in over 6 weeks! Yes, his work has been crazy lately. When he came home on Sunday in time to actually come to church with us (1st time he's done that since January), Matthew said, "You're not supposed to be here, daddy!" We are certainly thankful his work is not like this all the time!  He's ready for work to be less crazy and we're ready to see him more often.

Lunch with Dad part 2

One thing that we have learned, when one child gets something, it is a sure bet the other will want it as well. Shortly after Megan ate lunch with me at work, Matthew also filled his reward jar and wanted to come in and see me.  He liked seeing people in hard hats and wearing a badge like mine. I'm sure glad they like me.

(True to form, he had a hard time sitting still for a picture. Being at work with dad was too exciting.)

Lunch with Daddy at Work

That was what Megan wanted to have as a reward for filling her Pom-Pom jar. So today, she joined me for lunch.

We had a super exciting lunch! Carrots, fruit and sandwiches. Megan was a great eater though, probably partially spurred on by the brownie sitting on the table.

Megan was really excited to wear her visitors badge and hated to turn it in.

I had a great time eating lunch with my little girl and had many compliments on my lunch date.
