July's random photos

It's always interesting to look at the pictures after downloading them from the computer. The kids like taking pictures of their creations, games, etc, before putting it away and so there are often lots of photos I don't know about. Here are a sampling of some of them from July, as well as a few other July photos.

There was a sock hop the first week of school. The kids really enjoyed it. Here's a couple pictures of Matthew dancing with his teacher, Miss Rigby. She'd had her class pinky promise that they would all dance with her during the sock hop. Matthew took that promise very seriously!

Chocolate milk for breakfast

Matthew had chocolate milk for breakfast. At the allergist's office. For a dairy challenge. He thought it tasted pretty good. Although when it was time to drink his final dose, which was 160 mL, it took him a long time to drink. Like 30 minutes. The great news is that he passed the dairy challenge. Yeah! It really opens up so many food possibilities--pizza, mexican food, yogurt, ice cream, etc. We are excited about having more options to eat with him.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for Sarah, Megan and Matthew. Sarah's going into 6th grade and Megan and Matthew are going into kindergarten. I captured the moment by taking some pictures that I thought I'd share.

Science Center

This past weekend, we went to the Science Center. We had a great time! We showed up early during the members only time and were able to do quite a bit before it got busy. We also watched a planetarium show on the solar system and learned that Sarah hopes to go to Mars!

Fire Museum

We took a trip to the fire museum. We  always enjoy going there and seeing all the old fire trucks. Matthew wants to know why we don't use the old engines anymore--they seem like they'd work fine! The kids enjoyed playing in the kids' area. We watched a video about fire safety. Then the kids took turns driving the big fire truck.

All City Swim Meet

The middle of July, the girls participated in the All City Swim Meet. They could choose 3 events to swim. The top 8 participants in each stroke got a ribbon. Megan got a ribbon in backstroke and Sarah got one in freestyle. That evening, we went to a swim party celebrating the swim season. Everyone loved that!

More allergy fun!

We took Sarah and Megan in to have a skin test for allergies. Here are the results:

Sarah's back.

She's allergic to just about everything green (the only ones they tested that didn't who positive were western juniper and ponderosa pine), dust and mammals. The big one on the bottom left is mesquite and the big one on the bottom right is horse. The one above horse is cat. Some of the other big ones are alfalfa and all the grasses. Poor girl! She's quite bummed about being allergic to horses and dogs, in particular, since she love them so much! We already knew about cats so that's not such a big deal. (As a side note, I guess cats dander is really sticky and small and stays around for a long time. So even though her cat reaction is smaller than the horse one, in real life, the cat would probably be more of an issue.)

Megan's back. Showing us that a negative test result is possible! We even tested her for a few foods because of the severity of her keratosis pilaris. (The one red spot is that histamine, which should be positive on everyone!) Afterwards, she told me, "Mom, I knew I wasn't allergic!"

The funny thing about Megan being negative is that she is the one kid the allergist actually sent me home with some things to try. Even though she is not allergist to anything we tested for, her sinuses are inflamed and her skin is really dry and such. So we have a nasal spray and a cream that can help rebuild the skin.

Provo: Thanksgiving Point Garden flowers

While we were at Thanksgiving Point Gardens, Sarah enjoyed taking pictures of some of the flowers. I think she did a really good job. Here's a sampling.
