Other Happenings January 2019

Matthew had his 8 year old check up. He weighed in at 44 lb (3%) and was 48 inches tall (15%).

Recent Matthew quote: "Mom, you can't look at a .gov. You can only look at .com and .org."

Matthew attended a birthday party at Urban Air Adventure Park. There were lots of fun activities including multiple climbing walls. Matthew made it to the top multiple times!

Climbing up the columns.

Made it to the top!

On the Battle Beam, trying to knock off one of his friends.

Matthew passed the Dolphin swim class.
Megan passed a few weeks later (on February 1st).

Sarah was missing. This is where we found her.

All three kids played with the tree quite a bit. Here Matthew hold down a rope that they plan to use to create an elevator. Or a swing.

Megan's Art Masterpiece project. It's based on Pablo Picasso's "Portrait of Dora Maar."

Matthew's Art Masterpiece project. I think Pablo would approve.

Sarah did Me's eyebrows. (Note that the black stuff is only on temporarily to darken the eyebrows.)

Pinewood Derby

Matthew got to build his first Pinewood Derby car.  He was really excited.  He chose the shape and helped cut and sand it.  Then he picked paint colors and painted it (with help from Dad).  He named the car "Tricky" at Megan's suggestion.  It was number 28 since that is his favorite number.

He placed second in his wolf den out of two but the racers were very close.  When they did a run off at the end for all the pack he actually came in third overall.  Because he was in the top 2 in his den, he was able to progress to the stake competition. His car got first in one of the races in the stake competition. It was a lot of fun to build and race the car.

U still had an old pinewood derby car of his so they brought it to the meet and they let Matthew race it.  Tricky won the race handily.

Showing off Tricky.

If only he could drive his car like this.

Go Tricky, Go!

In first place this race.

Family visiting

With Megan and Matthew's baptism, we had a lot of family visiting.  Grandma and Grandpa O, Grandma and Grandpa A, Uncle Seth and Uncle Christian all came to visit.

U took the opportunity to play some games with his brothers.

Megan and Matthew took the opportunity to play some games on Christian's Nintendo Switch.

Grandpa ate some raw lemons.

Talking with grandparents is nice.

So is snuggling....
...while dad reads a story.

People stayed up to see the Super Blood Wolf Moon.  Some more successfully than others.
Seth and Christian had to leave on Sunday but the grandparents stayed a little longer.  On Monday we all went to the Desert Botanical Gardens.  It was a fun time.

Matthew the explorer.

Me with her parents.

Sarah enjoyed spending time with her grandmas.

Grandpa O let Megan and Matthew catch Pokemon as we went through the garden.

Just missing two people.

Pretty flowers,
yellow flower,

tall cacti,

floating cacti,

and beautiful butterflies all made for a nice day outside.

Family shot on the stumps.

When shown this picture, Sarah said, "I should smile more.  I look really pretty."

Lots of time to spend with grandparents.

Which of these women is colder than the others?

Grandpa O told Matthew to leave his coat in the car so he let Matthew wear his vest when he got cold.

Taking a break from finding Pokemon to look for real animals.

No trip to the Botanical Gardens is complete without a picture of the mutant saguaro.
