Happy One Month Birthday Matthew!

Matthew is one month old today!  We definitely feel blessed to have him in our family.

Stats:
Born at 7:26 am
5 lb 12 oz
19 1/2 inches long
13 1/8 inches - head circumference
12 inches - chest circumference (when not screaming at the nurse for unwrapping him)
APGAR scores were 9 and 9

I ended up having a c-section because he was breech.  He'd been breech at the 20 and 30 week ultrasounds.  However, at my 36 week check, the doctor thought he was head down.  However, at 38 weeks, I had another ultrasound that showed he was breech.  We tried to get him to flip, but it didn't work so c-section it was!

Matthew with my OB.  He was a good doctor for me--very low key and didn't stress out over little things.  However, I do think I surprised him and his office when I showed up at my 24 week appointment with a newborn.  You can really confuse people when you are pregnant and have a newborn at the same time!

Matthew curled up like he was in utero.  Sometimes his right leg was down like it is here and other times it was up over his head like his left leg.

Sarah's Exciting Day

Sarah has been very excited about today.  She has been talking about it a lot.  Why is she so excited? 

1. She gets to see her buddy.  (She has a 5th grade buddy that she gets to do stuff with on Fridays.  Always exciting.)
2. She gets to do something fun tonight because she'll have 10 stars on her calendar.  (She gets a star on days when she does a good job listening to mom and dad.)
3. "Dad's mom is coming."  (For whatever reason, she's been calling Grandma O "Dad's Mom" lately.  She calls Grandma A "Grandma.") 

She managed to top it off by having a "best day" at school which is a pretty big deal for Sarah.  What an exciting day for a 5 year old! 

Here we go!

I've been a big journal writer for years.  Since I was 14, actually.  It is fun to be able to go back and read about what happened at a certain time in life and is a good way for me to process my thoughts.  Lately, I've been finding that what I write about is mostly the kids.  Since we get a lot of requests for info about what is happening, I figure I can transfer most of my journaling to a blog so our family and friends will know how we're doing.  Plus that way we can share pictures of the family with everyone at the same time.  We'll see how it goes....
