January 2022

Here's some of what happened this month.

Megan with her friend Gigi at her first official YW activity.

Megan and Matthew playing together one morning.

Pillow fight! Matthew even became a big pillow for some of it.

First Sunday at YM.

First Sunday at YW.

Matthew and U after Matthew received the Aaronic Priesthood at church.

Cool designs.

Matthew's class on his 1000 day of school. (No, that's not a typo. The 100th day of 5th grade is the 1000th day of public school.)

Sister snuggles.

Atlas, er, Matthew, with the weight of the world on his back.

Matthew and Megan helped Me put together the Taj Mahal Lego set. We built half one day and half another.

Megan ran in another running club race.

Big milestone for the Corolla.

Cute cactus cookie Megan got.

Matthew showed us he could fit in his old sleeper by scrunching himself up really little. But it was quite tight and he needed to roll around if he wanted to move.

Matthew had his 11 year old check up this month. He weighed in at 60 pounds (5%) and is 54 inches tall (18%). He got two shots, one in each arm.

He requested that I send the following to his teacher: Matthew wanted me to let you know that both of his arms will be sore (he got a shot in each arm), so he will need to write with his feet tomorrow.

His teacher thought it was the perfect solution.

December Happenings

December has been a full month for us. Here are some happenings not covered in one of the other blog posts.

Mom and Matthew (not) doing logic puzzles.

Megan got 4th place among the 5th grade girls in the running club race.

Megan and Sarah went to the YW Christmas party. Megan was very excited to go to her first YW activity.

Sarah made this extra credit project for her Chemistry class.

We enjoyed going to Matthew's band concert.

Matthew and his trombone.

Jacob and Matthew

Jacob, Megan and Matthew. Each band member was limited to 2 guests so we didn't think Megan would be able to come. However, she was invited to come as Jacob's 2nd guest.

Ugly sweater cookies

Megan, Matthew and friends at the park in their pjs on the last day of school before Christmas break.

Me got to help set up Matthew's class party. (Megan's too but there's no picture of that.)

Me and U's matching socks.

We drove around looking at Christmas lights.

Sarah had a swim team bonding activity.

Pauline, Sarah, Charity and Lucas at the team building event.

We volunteered at the food bank. Most of the regular volunteers were there.
Back row: Bob, Wendi, Sushriya, Paula, Karen, David, new person, Me, Jean, ?, Cheryl, Sue

We put together a puzzle.

The kids went to the Snack Grandma and Grandpa's house for an activity and movie.
Matthew climbing the ladder in their entryway library.

Megan and Matthew love climbing this tree at their house.

February Happenings

Here's a sampling of what has been going on:
Megan's vision board for 2020

Megan's January Art Masterpiece project

Matthew's January Art Masterpiece project

Matthew's vision board for 2020

One of Matthew's science experiments was dissolving salt and sugar in water and then letting the water evaporate. Here are the results:
Lots of salt crystals all over the container.

The sugar crystals solidified together at the bottom of the container.

Each 3rd grade class painted kindness rocks. These are the rocks from Megan's class. Megan's is the blue one on the bottom right plate.

The rocks from Matthew's class. His rock is the only yellow one; it's in the upper right corner.

Megan's friendship party. She's playing bingo. Me is helping another group of kids decorate bags for their valentines in the back of the room.

Matthew's friendship party. Here, he is doing a wordsearch.

At this station, the kids through a heart bean bag to determine which exercise they would do. Options included jumping jacks, squats and burpees. The kids loved it!

Playing a numbers game.

Me with the other helpers.

Me and Matthew.

We went to the last running club race of the season. Here are shots from a few locations along the 1.5 mile course.

Coming into the finish!

Megan and Reilly race to the finish while Me records their efforts.

For the February Art Masterpiece project, the kids each made a flower square that we put together to form a quilt. This is the quilt from Matthew's class. His flower is the one in the middle on the far left.
Megan's class quilt. Megan's is the one with a yellow background that is in the second column from the right, second row from the bottom.
Eating free pancakes at IHOP on national pancake day.

Playing Just Dance as part of family fun night (a once-a-quarter night where they don't have any homework).

Few quotes from this month:

Sarah: There is no life without cheese.

From Megan's prayer:
Thankful for the trials we have and the world we face, but help them not to be too hard.
