On the way home, we stopped at Glen Canyon Dam to stretch our legs for a bit. Beautiful scenery!

We stopped by Provo on the way home to see Seth. Megan was his personal nurse the whole time we were there. She would get him water, help him go for walks and even paint his nails! What service!

We were able to stop by the Conrads for a quick visit. We always enjoy seeing them! Sarah really liked learning a duet to play on the piano with Grandma. The kids played for a bit at the park as well.

After our family reunion in Colorado ended, we were able to meet U's sister Suzanna and her husband Greg for lunch and a nice walk at Windy Gap. We sure appreciate all the yummy food they brought to share!

Another day, another park

Friday, we headed to a park in Granby to play before the Kramps left for home. The park was pretty cool--there were lots of wood play structures that people could explore and run around. We also ate lunch and then rode the chairlift at Granby Ranch.

This game kept most of the kids entertained for a long time. Red Rover was banned (we didn't want another broken arm!), so instead a person from one team would tap the hands of a person from the other team (hands were held behind the back with eyes closed) and then run back to the other side. If they got there first, both people were on the tagger's team. If the person who was tagged could catch the tagger, both were on the tagged's team. Quite entertaining.

Other Colorado activities

Thursday was a relaxing day where we hung out around the houses. We'd been with Matthew at the ER until really late (got home around 2:30 am) plus Grandpa was gone in the morning (he was taking Jon to the airport so he could go to his race in California), so it was good timing. The kids colored and played games, swam in the hot tub and shot arrows. In the afternoon, the men went on a little hike together. In the evening, the women played a few games while the men and kids watched movies and had popcorn.

Ready, aim, fire!

No more ER!

We had too many ER visits between our two family reunions. Four, to be exact. I kept requesting that we not have anymore hospital visits and people kept not listening to me! I'm really not sure why as it seems like a perfectly logical request......

It started when Grandma H got sick on the way to the Utah reunion and ended up needing to go to the hospital. Then Seth fell from the top of the rock wall and broke his back. In Colorado, Kiley fell down the driveway and broke his arm and displaced his pinky. 

The last visit was by Matthew who had a bad allergic reaction in the middle of the night and freaked his mom out. He came into our bedroom in the night, telling us "I'm allergic." He was continually coughing and his breathing sounded horrible. We gave him some medicine but he kept sounding bad so I called 911. By the time the ambulance finally arrived (40 minutes later--we had to call them back when they drove behind the house to tell them they missed us), he was doing better. Still, they recommended that we take him in just to make sure, which we did.

My favorite question of the whole ordeal was when the EMTs were calling the doctor at the ER to tell him about our refusal for transport (which they recommended so we wouldn't need to pay for the ambulance). They explained the situation about this "4 year old male" who was having an allergic reaction but seemed to be doing better and so didn't need ambulance transport. The doctor's first question: "Is he intoxicated?" Um, no.....

Grand Lake

On Wednesday, we headed into Grand Lake. Our first stop was the trail to Adams Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park. It's a nice short hike, good to do with lots of kids.

Megan had a bit of a rough time as she fell down at the beginning of the hike and skinned both of her knees. Luckily grandma came prepared with bandaids. It still hurt her to walk, though, so she got to ride on shoulders for a lot of the hike.

After the hike, we went to a park where we could eat lunch and the kids could play. Matthew was super excited to find this firepole so that he could practice going to the rescue.

After lunch, some people went kayaking. Megan was excited to go out with Grandpa and Emma.

Kiley, Benjamin and Luke were in one kayak and Brian, Nathan and Aaron were in another.

We decided to rent a paddle boat. The first half hour, it was U, Me, Matthew, Sarah and Andrew.

The second half hour, Marci, Kinley and Aspen joined Matthew and me.

All of the kids enjoyed getting a turn to paddle--it was definitely a workout! Here's Aspen paddling away.

After our time on the lake, we treated ourselves to some ice cream. Yum! We definitely enjoyed our time in Grand Lake.
