Maui Day 4: West Side and Snorkel at Honolua Bay

We woke up early Saturday morning and watched as the colors of the landscape changed with the rising sun. It was quite lovely!

The view to the right from our lanai--that's Molokai in the background.

The view straight out from the lanai.

The view to the left--that's Lanai in the background.

Lanai a bit later.

Molokai a bit later.

After going to the welcome breakfast at our hotel, we headed up the west side of Maui. Such gorgeous scenery!

We hiked down to Nakalele Blowhole. It was a bit of a hike down over very uneven terrain--no easy trail to follow!

Hiking down to Nakalele Blowhole. Interesting rock formations!

Small sputter from the blowhole. Sometimes there would be a little and sometimes a lot.

Panoramic by the blowhole. We actually found another small blowhole around where I'm standing.

A fish in the tidepool. It was going back and forth between a couple of the holes in the rock. There was one hole it backed into. Fun to watch!

More cool looking terrain.

Red sand.

Gorgeousness everywhere!

Another beautiful shot. Molokai is in the background.

Honolua Bay where we snorkeled. It was super calm! There's a nice hike through a rainforest to get there. We even saw a cock fight!

Getting ready to snorkel. Having the boogie board worked really well as we used it when we needed to adjust our snorkels or look at pictures.

Hey there!

A few shots of the fish. We saw so many!

Hey U!

All done for today. We had a great time!

We ate dinner at Joey's Kitchen which is in Whaler's Village.

Then we had some Ululani's Shave Ice. Yum!

Nice sunset!
(In case you haven't noticed, I love watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean.)

Overall, it was a very nice day. The one downer is that, despite putting sunscreen on all day long, I managed to get sunburned. Ouch! I'm thankful for aloe!

Maui: Hotel in Kaanapali

We enjoyed our time at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Nice grounds, friendly staff and it's right on the ocean. Our room is on the second floor from the top, the third from the right. Great room! I have to say my husband spoiled me by getting an oceanfront room. I certainly love listening to and watching the ocean and so we got good use out of our lanai!

Our room, with two queen beds.

Gorgeous picture of sunrise at Haleakala located in the hall right outside our door.

The swimming pool was shaped like a whale. This is its head.

And its tail.

The grounds were lovely!
