September Happenings

September was a busy month with lots of games, books and building. Here are some highlights.

Playing with Miles, our robot. Matthew made him his hat out of silly putty.

We got a new bird, Ciel. It is pronounced C-L and means "sky" in French. She is very pretty.

Ciel on her swing.

One of Matthew's latest Tegu block and domino creations.

U, Megan and Matthew saw the harvest moon and thought it was really pretty. It looked like a pumpkin as it was kind of orange.

Matthew with a snake around his neck during their on site field trip.

One of Matthew's Silk Art creations. It's a cool app where you can create art using different patterns and colors.

One of Megan's creations.

We have been playing Little Alchemy 2, discovering ways to create new elements and products. This is Megan's Jedi Council.

Megan and Matthew were able to go to Legoland Discovery Center over Fall Break with one of their friends and his family.
Matthew and Colton in back. (Colton is a third grader who is taller than Matthew. Matthew is ok with this.) Mom and Lauren in front.

Noah entertaining the kids while they built with Legos. Kids are Megan, Lauren, Jacob, Colton and Matthew.

Matthew and Colton built this pirate tower together.

Colton and Matthew with some other builds. Matthew built the survival ship on the top shelf. He also helped Jacob with Green Beard's ship that is on the middle shelf.

Jacob, Megan and Lauren with the snails they made during the mini build.

Megan, Matthew and Me were discussing population trends over time and how many children used to die at a young age. Megan said, "No wonder why they liked to fight. They had to get their sadness out somehow. The sorrow turned into anger and then they killed people."

100000000 or 2^8

When we first got married, we would regularly celebrate our “monthaversaries.” A coworker asked how long we would do that. I can’t say we kept doing every month but there are some too big to ignore.

Happy 100000000 months!

Even if we take it out of binary, 2^8 or 256 months is a long time. 😘

Looking forward to our 2^9 in another 21 and 1/3 years.

Megan's 11th birthday

Megan celebrated her 11th birthday! It's amazing how quickly she has grown up. And in just a few months, she will be going to Young Women.

Megan before opening her gifts.

Megan with her gifts. She received the Bruni Lego set from Matthew, snacks from Sarah, "How to Train Your Dragon" movies from the Adams, money from grandparents, and a movie night with popcorn, Minecraft book, a light up bonsai tree, a couple of puzzles and some markers from mom and dad.

U, Austin and Matthew played some games.

Megan loved the caramel brownies she had for dessert. She had requested caramel and brownies for her birthday so we figured the combination would be a hit.

She had a nice day. Lots of dragon movies were watched, pictures were colored, Legos were put together and enjoyed. She enjoyed seeing her birth mom and her half brothers. She loved the caramel brownies. She is a delight to have in our family.

At her 11 year old check up, she weighed 92 pounds (70th%) and was 61 inches tall (93rd%). She is very excited to be as tall as her sister.

One day not long after her birthday, Megan came into our room bored. We mentioned that she could write her thank you cards for her birthday gifts.
Megan: I don’t know where the thank you cards are.
U: Was there a question in there?
Megan: I don’t know where the question marks are!
