Disneyland: The Chaperones

U and Me went California and Disneyland as chaperones for the band. It was a great experience overall and we enjoyed spending time with the other chaperones, Melissa and Suzette. It was Suzette's first trip to Disneyland. Me acted as the unofficial tour guide and received a 5/5 rating.

We got into Disneyland around 4:30-5 pm on Thursday, having left Chandler around 6 am with a stop at the university. The park was quite busy. We initially went to ride Indiana Jones with single rider but that was not currently available so we headed towards Fantasyland.

Me, U, Melissa and Suzette with the Matterhorn, our first ride.

Next we rode Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway which we all enjoyed. It was U's first time on the ride.

We ate dinner at Docking Bay in Galaxy's Edge. The food was delicious!

We ran across the directors who were headed to Rise of the Resistance, the same ride we were heading to, so we went together. While in line, U heard from one of his students that he had lost his ticket. Thankfully he had a photo of the back saved so another student was able to load the ticket into their Disneyland app-crisis averted!

After Rise, the six of us went on Millennium Falcon together with U and Mr. Bullock as the pilots, Suzette and Me as the gunners and Melissa and Mr. Werner as the engineers. Then it was time to head back to the busses so that we would be there before the students headed back for the night. U's step count for the day was 15,722.

Picture into the lobby of the hotel from outside our 14th floor room. Most students and chaperones were on floors 4 and 6 (although Megan's group was on floor 11). How did we luck out and get the top floor?

View from our room the next morning. You can see some of the Incredicoaster and Mickey's wheel of death.

After a delicious breakfast, we went to California Adventure. We first headed to Soarin' Over California. It's been awhile since we'd been on that version of the ride.

Next up: Maters!

We rode Webslingers using single rider and then went on Toy Story Midway Mania (which had been scheduled to be down but came up early from its refurb--we were excited to be able to ride it).

We got some Dole whips from the Adorable Snowman. Me had raspberry lemon and U had mango lemon. They were delicious!

We rode Indiana Jones single rider.

We went to use our Space Mountain lightning lane but it was down so we got a multipass. We went on Star Tours and Storybook Land Canal boats.

We walked through the castle and saw the Disneyland band performing.

We went on Pirates and then met up with the directors to go on Haunted Mansion. At this point, Melissa and Suzette opted to take a break while Mr. Bullock, U and Me went on Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Then Mr. Bullock headed off on his own.

U and Me met Suzette and Melissa for dinner. After dinner, we again split to use our lightning lane multipasses.

Guardians of the Galaxy. We were in the center of the back row. Our ride was "Hit me with your best shot," the same ride Me and CL had in January.

Me and U on Soarin'. We were in the top center!!! I love that ride!

We went over to Disneyland to ride Jungle Cruise, which had also come up early from its refurb. We noticed new butterflies, a python and a few other things. We picked up some Mickey beignets and then headed back to California Adventure.

We got to go the back way out of the park as Main Street was closed for the parade.

We watched World of Color: Happiness!

After the show, we picked up some pressed pennies on our way back to the busses. U's step count for the day was 29,551.

We had a nice time at the parks. It was really fun to be with someone who had never been before and really had no idea what to expect on the rides. She was continuously amazed and delighted by so much about the parks and the rides. It was also a super cool bonus that both Jungle Cruise and Toy Story Midway Mania were up since they had been scheduled to be down for refurb. And it was nice to be able to go on Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway with U since he had never been on it. Definitely love the Disney parks!

Disneyland Trip with Band!

The band, choir and orchestra went on a field trip to Anaheim. It started early on Thursday morning when the kids loaded up onto buses and headed out to California.

We stopped at the University of Redlands to learn about their school and music program. It was a beautiful campus!

One of the faculty at the university led the students through some exercises to help them with body awareness and lung capacity.
Can you spy Matthew?

The band, choir and orchestra kids

Once done with the school tour, we loaded up the buses to head to Disneyland. There was a bit of a delay as one of the orchestra buses would not start so they loaded as many kids as they could onto the other 3 buses and ubered the rest of the kids with the chaperones.

In the parks, the kids divided up into groups of three or more students. They had a photo check in with their chaperones every few hours which is what most of these photos are from. Megan and Matthew both had a great time!

Megan spent her time with Grace, Ayasha and Ivie.

Saturday morning, we got up, ate breakfast and headed back to Arizona. It was a lot quieter on the way back as there were lots of sleeping kids!
