We are working with Megan on grabbing her toes. It is not that she doesn't like toes. She thinks these toes are interesting and do lots of neat things like sing and dance:
And she really likes these toes (the picture can't quite do justice to how excitedly Megan attacks Matthew's feet at times):
When it comes to her own toes, well, they are ok to play with when she is sitting (gravity helps):
But she hasn't been grabbing them when on her back. Doing this is important developmentally and strengthens her ab muscles so we have been working on it a lot. So we are very excited that she did this:
Yeah Megan!
As a side note, when we were at Physical Therapy and trying to get her to grab her own toes, Megan kept looking at and reaching for Matthew's. The Physical Therapist noticed how entranced she was with them and commented on how she needed to grab hers, not Matthew's.

I guess it's not allowed to bait her own toes with a coating of barley cereal or something, is it? Is she just supposed to grab them, or suck on them? Good luck! Cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou notice when she does it is when there is no diaper, just let her go naked all the time, problem solved.
ReplyDeleteThanks for noticing the diaperless state. She will do it with a diaper on too but I do think the lack of pants makes it easier to get her toes.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't need to suck on them--grabbing is sufficient.
oh sad, makes me miss Megan. The pictures/post aren't sad just us not being there. Give her a kiss for me!
