Fireman Fun

Saturday was the annual Fireman Toy Drive. We participated, of course. The kids each did extra work around the house to earn a toy to donate.

After giving the firemen the toys, we rode on a fire engine. They had the flashing lights on and even drove fast for a bit of it.
Sarah, Megan and I sat in the back.

Matthew and daddy sat up front. The future fireman was super excited!

Getting their fireman tattoos.

Funny story: after getting their fireman tattoos, they were singing the Fireman Sam song. They based what part of the song they sang on what tattoo they had. For example, Matthew had a fire alarm, so he sang, "When he hears that fire alarm, Sam is always cool and calm." Megan had a fire truck, so she got to make the fire engine noise.

In the back of an old engine they had decorated.

Driving the old engine.

What a cute kid!

Matthew in his fire gear. Yes, it completely drowned him! The fire boots were as tall as his legs, the coat and the pants were each as big as he was. The gear weighs about as much as him and no, he wasn't able to move in it. One of the Junior firefighters pushed him around a bit, which looked pretty funny!

Sarah in the fire gear. To me, she doesn't look that much bigger than Matthew in this photo. Maybe it's something about the coat going down past her knees.

Ta da!

Show 'em dad!

Matthew happily put back on the fire gear to post with dad.

Definitely a fun time for all!

  1. So one reason fireman have to be big and strong is so they can move while fully geared up? What a fun time!
