Wednesday, we
went to Old Town to learn about the early days of San Diego. We toured multiple
homes and businesses from that time including a one room schoolhouse and
carriage house.
The kids really liked playing with the telegraph machines in the Wells Fargo building.

The kids liked seeing the old Wells Fargo stagecoach and Matthew really wanted to ride it.

We also enjoyed watching the blacksmith for quite awhile. He showed us how to make a leaf--that was quite an involved process and it was cool to see him do it!
We ate lunch
at Casa Guadalajara. Sarah's food was happy to see her.
After lunch, we headed to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. We learned a lot about the Mormon Battalion and their contribution to the early development of San Diego. Matthew even volunteered to be a soldier during the presentation. At the end, the kids were able to pan for "gold" as well.

We went to
Pacific Beach. The kids were all really excited to try out the boogie boards.
After one run, Matthew decided he had had enough. The girls, however, liked it
pretty well. All of the kids enjoyed playing with the sand toys and I enjoyed
watching yet another sunset from the beach.
