La Jolla and the ocean

Sunday the 5th of October, we got up early and drove to San Diego while listening to the morning session of conference. After checking into our condo, we rode the bus to La Jolla. Of course, while we rode, Matthew sang "The Wheels on the Bus." We got off at the wrong stop, which meant more walking, but it also meant that we found a less busy beach. We all enjoyed looking at the tidepools.

Daddy and Matthew. Matthew wasn't too sure about exploring at first but once he got sure of his footing, he enjoyed himself.

We then walked along shore where saw children's pool where there weren't children and only a couple of seals. However, not long after, we saw a whole bunch on a rock and one swimming. We saw even more rocks with a bunch of seals on them. It was fun to hear them say, "ar, ar, ar." We even saw one chasing a bird doing that. We had a snack on the lawn of the park and then stopped by La Jolla Cove, which was very busy. We also visited the Sunny Jim Sea Cave.

Lots of seals!

Sarah found a cool tree to climb.

At the sea cave.

Sunny Jim, U and Megan.

Climbing back up all those stairs.

Then we walked more along the shore before catching the bus back to our condo. And yes, Matthew sang "The Wheels on the Bus."

Here I am with Torrey Pines in the background. It's so beautiful!

Megan and Matthew kept taking their shoes off.

The kids loved playing by this fountain.

We arrived back at the condo at sunset so we walked over to the beach to see that. It was beautiful! The kids played in the sand and surf. It was all fun and games until some big waves came up and knocked Megan and Matthew onto their backs. They did not like that! We went to the condo where the kids got baths and mom got dinner and cleaned sand out of clothes.

At night, we slept with our sliding door opened and heard the surf. It super nice! Matthew must have thought so too because he climbed into bed with us on a few occasions.

Guess who is sandy?!?

Playing while the sun goes down.

Favorite part of day
Matthew: riding the bus, both ways
Megan: walking the short way (along beach versus longer way along road)
Sarah: playing at beach at sunset
Me: watching and hearing the ocean
U: the sea cave
