Our last morning on Maui, we enjoyed spending some time outside before packing up and heading out.

| We enjoyed watching whales from the lanai. We went over to the bay to see turtles one more time. |
Our plan for the day was to spend a few hours in Haleakala National Park
before flying to Oahu. We saw some of the burn area as we drove through
Lahaina. We stopped at an overlook to look for whales. I sure did enjoy
being able to see them. It was a bit cloudy and rainy as we headed up the
slopes of Haleakala, although not as much as when U and Me went in 2015. We
had some nice views down into the valley and isthmus areas and could see
Molokini. We picked up a hitchhiker on the way to the top (they do a one way
hike, leaving their car at the end of the hike and getting a ride to the
top).

| U meditating with some Hawaiian silverswords. |

| Megan with a view into the crater behind her. It was a bit brisk and windy at the top. |

| View into the crater. The Ko'olau Gap is to the left and the Kaupō Gap is to the right, visible where the clouds are coming into the crater. |

Megan, Megan(!) and Me (The kids love multiplying themselves in
panoramic shots.) |
|
| Unfortunately, we had a (temporary) casualty on the trail. |
|
| Another view into the crater on our way out. It really is otherworldly! |

U with the crater. Megan commented that there weren't any turtles up at the summit of Haleakala. And it wasn't due to the lack of water because there were clouds.... |

| View of the Big Island from the Kalahaku Overlook. |
|
| View from Kalahaku Overlook into the crater. |
|
| View from the Leleiwi Overlook. |
|
| Nice view of the Ko'olau Gap. |
We got a couple of plate lunches for dinner. Matthew really liked the
macaroni salad that came with them.
|
| Loco moco which is white rice with a hamburger patty topped with gravy topped with a fried egg. |
|
| Kalua pork |
|

|
| Nice view of the sunset as we approach O'ahu. It was cool to fly over Moloka'i. |
