Great Lakes Day 6: Keweenaw Peninsula

We spent the next day on the Keweenaw Peninsula.....which Megan and Matthew think should more accurately be called the Keweenaw Island since there is a river/canal that cuts across the entire peninsula. They're not technically wrong.

We stopped at Silver River Falls on our way up the peninsula.

We drove along Brockway Mountain Drive. It was really pretty.

We thought this looked like a donut lake.

There was some nice color.

We hiked in Estivant Pines Nature area. There were some huge white pines. Did you know that the eastern white pine is the state tree of both Michigan and Maine??? Thanks 5th grade state projects.

Megan and Matthew had a walking stick battle.

We went to Fort Wilkins. It was interesting learning about life at the fort.

The goods purchased at Jampot, a bakery run by monks: 4 caramels, apricot raspberry jam, German chocolate caramel brownie, carrot cake muffin, gingerbread muffin and pumpkin muffin. Delicious!

Matthew thought it was great that Me wore his crocs. Notice the game of Toy Story Monopoly in the background? It was a brutal game for Me, who went to jail 3 times in a relatively short period of time, once from landing on the space and twice from pulling cards.
