Road Trip: Vegas

Over the kids' Spring Break, we took a road trip to visit a bunch of family. First stop: Las Vegas. The kids did great on the car ride. Megan even commented that she wasn't asking, "Are we there yet?" (At that point, Matthew picked up the slack and asked for her.) Of course, everyone was excited to get to Las Vegas and see our family. Cheryl-Lynn and I were wearing the same type of pants, just in a little different color. (We often are wearing similar clothes when we see each other. It's a little crazy!) While in Vegas, we watched some movies including Trolls and played some games including Qwixx. Kiley watched all 7 kids so Cheryl-Lynn and I could go to her Stake Relief Society activity. There was lots of playing by the kids, both inside and outside. Megan managed to sprain her ankle on the trampoline (it's still not quite back to normal although it's getting close) and Matthew had a super bloody nose. Definitely lots of good times :)

Sunset as we are driving towards Nevada.

We went to the Springs Preserve, where we watched a parrot show, explored a Ripley's Believe It Or Not exhibit, experienced a flash flood and walked through a recreation of an Old West town.

Matthew, Elizabeth and Megan in a huge chair!

Sarah with a recreation of the tallest known man. (He was 8 ft, 11 inches!)

Shopkeeper Matthew in the Boom Town store.

We went to the drive in to see the Lego Batman movie. It's the first time my kids have been to a drive in (and it's been a long time since I went to one). We enjoyed both the movie and the experience.

Matthew and Andrew liked their matching pajamas.

Luke and Sarah enjoyed playing some games. Here they are playing Machi Koro.

Megan enjoyed playing with the toys in the loft.

So did Matthew.

Monday, we went to the Natural History Museum where we saw sharks, snakes, dinosaurs and an exhibit on Egyptians, including a replica of King Tut's tomb. They also had a neat exhibit on desert habitats.

Megan dressed as an Egyptian girl at the marketplace.

Matthew working with tools in his Egyptian wrappings.

Elizabeth and Matthew.

Sarah really liked this lizard.

Outside at the playground after visiting the museum.

Cheryl-Lynn and I picked our cousin Scott up from the airport. We thought he was going to stay the night but he ended up driving home instead.

Tuesday, we went to the Children's Museum. Luke and Andrew even missed the last few hours of school to come with us.

There was a really cool safety and rescue exhibit where we spent a lot of our time. The kids LOVED the ball pit rescue area. They lined up to go in over and over again.

The older kids decided it would be fun to fill the rescue raft with the balls.
In the back are Matthew, Luke and Sarah. Benjamin is face down in the balls. Megan looks like she's helping Elizabeth up front.

Benjamin and Matthew help put out some fires.

Luke and Megan drive jet skis to go rescue someone in the ocean.

Sarah driving a rescue helicopter.

Of course, Luke and Sarah had to spend some time at the ATM.

Matthew liked working in the airport.

Megan worked at the grocery store.

Sarah mixing up some yummy smoothies.

Since we were there for Pi day, we had to get some pie!

Also in celebration of Pi day, the adults went and got some pizookies to share (basically a large cookie with ice cream).
