Road Trip: Provo

Wednesday morning, we drove up to Provo for the next leg of our journey. Matthew, in particular, was really excited to go to Provo and had been talking about it for weeks beforehand. He was most excited about seeing snow. Since it was in the 70s during the day while we were there, we didn't see any snow in Provo. However, we did drive up Provo Canyon one day and successfully found some. We enjoyed watching Studio C, Tricked and a few movies and playing games like Oh Heck!, Yahtzee and Perudo. The kids enjoyed playing with Grandma and Grandpa's toys. We enjoyed spending time outside in the beautiful weather as well.

We stopped at Cove Fort and took a tour. It was interesting to learn about the history of the fort and to see the rooms people used to live in.

When we arrived in Provo, Grandma was outside talking to a couple of people by her garden. We decided it would be fun to sneak up on her. Matthew and Megan got out of the car and ran from tree to tree until they were close enough that they could run up behind her. She was really surprised!!!

Thursday, we had a pretty laid back day, staying around the house. The kids played outside a lot (the girls managed to get soaked a couple of times). Matthew enjoyed building with PlayMobil, Legos, K'Nex and blocks. That evening, we took a walk to the park. We played hide and seek with the kids. Megan starting making chirping noises once we passed by her so we could find her. Sarah, on the other hand, kept moving around. We eventually found her up in this tree.

Friday was St. Patrick's Day. The fairies left green necklaces at the fairy door and the leprechaun left his hat in the rafters of the gazebo. The hat had necklaces for the girls and a bow tie for Matthew as well as bubbles, glasses and golden raisins for all three of them.

We went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point. The kids enjoyed climbing in the giant jungles and playing in Kidopolis.

Matthew with this Archimedes screw, a giant drill-like apparatus. As it turned, it would scoop black chips up from the ground. They would move up, eventually spilling out the top.

All the kids loved Buckwheat, Allison's dog. They took her on walks, fed her treats and played with her. They were excited that one day we got to dogsit while Allison was at work.

One morning, Matthew asked if he could have "Frosted Mini Buckwheats" for breakfast.

U and Grandpa joined us Friday evening, much to everyone's delight. Grandma's sister Pam stopped by briefly as well.

Saturday, we went up to Salt Lake (see here for more details). That evening, we celebrated Grandpa's birthday with strawberry shortcake and presents.

The girls loved dressing up in Grandma's costumes, shoes and jewelry.

In church, Megan and Matthew learned about feeling the Spirit and they drew pictures of when they can feel the Spirit.

Monday, we played in the snow. This was a big deal and was one of the main reasons my kids were excited about going to Utah over Spring Break. See this post for more pictures.

The rest of us enjoyed some gaufres (Belgian waffles). Yum!

Megan loved checking the fairy door to see if anything had been left for her. She was often seen running around the house to look.
