All City Swim Meet

Today was the All City Swim Meet. The four summer rec teams competed against one another and each swimmer's overall place was determined based on time in a given event (as opposed to most meets, where the swimmer who finishes first in a heat gets a first place ribbon, etc, with no idea how the swimmers do versus swimmers in other heats).

Sarah had a great meet! She had personal bests in the two events she swam before and did really well in the 100 yard IM, an event she hadn't swum before. She was pretty nervous about that one because it is twice as far as her other races and she didn't know if she would have enough energy to get through it. However, she did a great job pacing herself and looked strong through the whole race! There was a whole group of us cheering her on and everyone was impressed with how well she did. She certainly is a strong little swimmer.

Here's her results:
50 yard Backstroke: 48.87 seconds, 4th out of 26
50 yard Butterfly: 55.7 seconds, 8th out of 29
100 yard IM: 1 min 54.79 seconds, 6th out of 20

Sarah was excited to get ribbons in all her races (the top 3 finishers got a medal and 4th-8th got a ribbon). One note of interest is that Sarah swims in the 9/10 girl group. The age cutoff deadline? May 31st. So she is one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in her division.
