Norway Day 2: Litlefjellet, Trollstigen

After eating a yummy breakfast at the cabin, we headed to Litlefjellet which is considered an easy hike in Norway. 140 m elevation gain in 1 km. So quite a steep grade. But pretty short.

The view from up top was amazing! I loved seeing into the valleys on both sides of the ridge. There were lots of cairns up top as well as some small ponds. Because of the clouds, we were not able to see the top of the mountains (like Romsdalshorn). We enjoyed wandering around for a bit.

So clearly we have seen all of Norway and in less than 24 hours!

U charged the car at a local charging spot and saw a map with different climbing routes up Trollveggen.

After a yummy French toast dinner, we drove to Trollstigen (Troll's Ladder). We had thought we would not be able to go here since last year it was not open until mid July due to issues with rocks falling and that had been the plan for this year as well. We were pleasantly surprised to find it open!

I loved that they name all the "vingen" (wings). They even have them labelled so you can read them as you drive (which I did; I am sure my Norwegian is excellent).

There were sheets of water flowing down the rocks. It was very impressive!

There is a hiking trail (Kløvstien) that goes from the valley to the top. We crossed it several times on our drive up.

So good to see them having fun together!

We then went chasing the clouds. We actually wanted to see if we could drive up in the clouds. However, we were not able to. We did see some beautiful landscapes.

Kids' impressions of the day:

Matthew: It was good. (What was good?) The hike.

Megan: The hike was good. Rain made it a little hard to get down. I've seen all of Norway (see earlier note). Trolls?!? Waterfalls are cool.
