Yellowstone: Hayden Valley, Yellowstone Lake

We ate dinner at Canyon before heading into Hayden Valley and stopping at Yellowstone Lake.

Matthew and Lizzie as Rangers.

Sarah as a Ranger.

A couple of bison grazing beside the road. I like that you can see me taking the picture in the side view mirror.

Some water birds along the Yellowstone River.

We stopped at Sulphur Caldron. It is very aptly named! Stinky!

A small herd of bison lay resting around the caldron. We thought it was an interesting place to take a rest.

Across the road was the Mud Volcano area. This is the Mud Caldron.

Megan and Matthew with the Mud Volcano.

Dragon's Mouth Spring. This was a favorite feature as it sounded like a dragon was breathing inside the cave.

We liked looking at these pools of water--they seemed to be sizzling.

Strike a pose!

Sarah and Luke didn't want to get out of the car.

Three male elk further up the road
