Yellowstone: Grand Prismatic Spring

The next morning, we decided to head back into Yellowstone so we could see Grand Prismatic Spring before heading to the family reunion.

View as we approached Lower Geyser Basin. All the smoke/steam seems foreboding. (It wasn't.)

Excelsior Geyser at Midway Geyser Basin. It hasn't erupted in years but it steams a lot and puts 4000 gallons/minute of hot water into the Firehole River.

Grand Prismatic Spring is the third largest hot spring in the world. It is quite impressive and very colorful! (The larger ones are in New Zealand and Dominica.)

Need to teach those bison that they need to stay on the boardwalk!

We then hiked up Fairy Falls Trail a bit to an overlook of Grand Prismatic Spring. Here Matthew and I are with a smaller spring on the hike.
