Live Nativity

Sunday, we went to a live nativity at a local church. I'd never been to one and was excited to go. It was pretty neat as they had a walk through Bethlehem, where merchants and other people told us about what they did. It was very hands on with samples of food and even a toy wood car for the kids (these were very progressive Bethlehemites!). My favorite was when we learned about salt and our guide got reprimanded for almost touching the salt--touching it defiles it, we were told, as the lady was waving the salt block around with her hand :) Once we went through the city, we went to the live nativity, which told the story of the first Christmas through word and song. It was very nice! They also had cocoa and cider to drink as well as a bunch of crafts for the kids. Definitely an enjoyable evening!

Here are some of the crafts the kids did.

  1. What a wonderful experience! And a lot of work for that church to do as a Christmas offering!
