Egg Drop

Last weekend, we went to the Arizona Science Center. They were having a GoldieBlox Egg Drop activity where you designed a carrier to (hopefully) safely drop an egg 12 feet. We were given some supplies and could do with them whatever we wanted. Sarah designed her own, Megan worked with Daddy and Matthew with Mommy.  If you'd been a fly on the wall watching the design process, you would think that there were a couple of engineers working on the designs.

Pretty fun activity! The blue and red bags were supposed to act like a parachute and there were pipe cleaner "springs" on the bottom as well as some bumpers to help dampen the fall at the bottom. The elastics bands helped to dampen the impact on the egg as well. (Really, we probably went a bit overboard, but what were you expecting???)

The results? Sarah's egg and Megan and Daddy's egg cracked. Matthew and Mommy's didn't.
