Megan's Happy Today!

Today was Megan's "Happy Today." (That's what Megan says for "Happy Birthday.") She's been talking about it for quite awhile and was super excited. If you asked her what she wanted, she said, "Tinker Bell." When asked what she wanted to eat, she said, "Cake." She would say, "Happy Today!" all the time. Yesterday, when I asked her how old she was, she said, "2." And when I asked how old she'd be tomorrow, she said, "3!"

So how was her birthday? That's what this post is about.

The day started at the somewhat reasonable hour of 6:45 a.m. Since Megan and Matthew have been getting up by 5 or 5:30 a.m. somewhat regularly, this was a welcome start to the day. She got to wear her favorite Rapunzel (aka Tangled) shirt. Her first gift was a Winnie the Pooh "Happy Birthday!" balloon (picked out by Matthew and daddy). She loved it and was pointing out who was on it (Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet).

After getting Sarah to school and eating breakfast, Megan enjoyed a fun day at home. She and Matthew played together a lot. She got to see the trash man come. She had a jam session on the guitar. She watched Rio and had popcorn for lunch. And she took some phone calls. It was cute to see her talk to others and tell them about her day.

In celebration of her birthday and against her mother's advice, she opted to skip her nap. This may have resulted in a few meltdowns in the evening, but hey, it's her birthday and she can cry if she wants to!

She was a big help with getting dinner (pancakes and watermelon). Yum!

Before opening presents.

With her presents. She got a Tinker Bell doll, 2 Tinker Bell shirts, a personalized "Little Mermaid" book, a Dora book, a My Little Pony playset, Tinker Bell earrings, a purse and nail polish. And some stickers. And the balloon. So much fun stuff!

Showing off her Tinker Bell doll and purse. The purse says, "M is for Me." It works out great since she and Matthew call Megan "Me." (sounds like the first syllable of "Megan")

Megan's pink toe nails. As soon as she opened her nail polish, she asked to have her toe nails painted. And she was very nice and shared with her sister.

With her birthday cake. She got the candle out in one blow.
She was so excited about the cake. I made it yesterday morning and when I asked her what she wanted for lunch yesterday, she said, "Cake." And that's pretty much what she wanted to eat ever since then. But she had to wait until tonight to eat it.

Well, she mostly waited. As you can see from this side of the cake, Megan sampled the cake to make sure it passed inspection. It did.

Megan eating her cake. She must have liked it--she ate two pieces! Must be her birthday.

So definitely a stellar day for Megan. I bet she'll even want another one next year:)
