Last weekend, we planned on going to look at leaves. Around here, you definitely have to drive a bit to see fall colors since all our leaves do is stay green until they decide to turn brown and fall off. Not so colorful. Our first choice of where to go didn't work out since it was supposed to be snowing so we went to Globe. There were some fall leaves, but we'd have to hike quite a ways to get to the really colorful stuff and since it was rainy, we just looked from the distance.
However, we discovered Besh-Ba-Gowah Archaeological Park. It's some ruins where some of the Salado lived from 1250-1450 A.D. It was pretty cool to walk around and read all about their culture. There is a two story structure that has been restored that you can go in and climb up. They also had a small botanic garden where we were able to grind corn. Sarah enjoyed that and has requested that we go there again so she can grind more corn. I figure we can just put her to work here:)
