Megan's 7th Month

• Solids:  Not surprisingly, Megan excitedly eats solids almost every time we give them to her.  Her current offerings include oatmeal, barley, green beans, peas and squash.  She also gets prune juice occasionally which she is not quite as excited about.  She likes to experience her food--she likes putting the spoon in her mouth, likes playing with the food on her tray and even likes eating her bib.  Yes, meal time is a very messy experience in Megan's world:)

• Dinnertime: Megan is often sitting with us at the table during dinner. It is really cute and we enjoy having her with us.  She will sometimes eat the table or a toy while we are eating our food.



• "Megan needs to eat more": Yes, I actually said this.  Never thought I would since Megan is generally a very good eater.  However, when she was sick, she wasn't eating well hence the comment.
• Growling: Megan enjoys vocalizations.  A favorite one of the past month is growling.  It's really funny to hear and she'll do it at almost anything. 
• Pacifier: Megan likes having control of her pacifier.  She'll grab it and stick it in her mouth, usually backwards.  (Maybe the nipple makes a good handle?)  It doesn't pacify so well that way but it's fun to chew on. 

• Tongue: Megan has started sticking her tongue out more.  She thinks it is funny when we imitate what she does.  We figure she's learning from Matthew all about the joys of tongues.
• Independent play: Megan enjoys playing on her own.  She will sit and play with toys (or whatever else is within her reach) for quite awhile.  She's quite good at sitting.  She will reach way in front of her feet and to both sides if there is something that she wants to get.

• Other developments: Megan has started pushing up on her hands and knees a little.  She doesn't get up for very long and this generally results in her pushing herself backwards.  She also has started doing the head tilt where she will look at something and then turn her head sideways to look at the same thing.
