When the lights go out

Tonight we had an adventure. At 7:15, right when Matthew was getting out of the shower, the power turned off. Amazingly enough, this is the first major power outage we've had since living here. Sarah was at Activity Days and Melinda went to bring her home.

The kid's reactions varied.  Matthew was very worried the house was going to start on fire. He wasn't really sure what to make of the outage. Megan thought of it as an adventure. She enjoyed showering in the light of a crank lantern and doing activities with U.  When Sarah got home, she thought it was really cool.

We have been practicing different skills for India, this wasn't planned but it was a good event for preparing.  The kids were glad we had crank lanterns and flashlights to use. It made reading Little House on the Prairie at bedtime all the more real.

  1. What a fun adventure! How long was it off for? The electricity goes off here in Delhi several times a day but we have a generator that the guard turns on so we are spoiled.

    1. It was out for about two hours. Matthew thinks you have the coolest place ever since you have a generator.
