Student of the Month: Matthew

Matthew was chosen as Student of the Month for his class this month. He was excited and Sarah was happy to explain to him what he needed to do: go shake the principal's hand, then his teacher's hand and then the other teachers' hands. They have a value associated with the award and Matthew's award was for Responsibility.

Matthew writing practice. Story below.

Quick story about Matthew and school. Each week, they are learning about an animal and writing sentences about that animal. So far, they've done fish, dogs and cats. Matthew tends to freeze and not write anything when it's time for him to write his own sentences without his teacher's help so we decided to practice at home. The idea is to have simple sentences like "Fish are slimy" or "Cats can jump." For his practice, his first sentence was simple, "Dogs have fir." (We discussed different ways to spell "fur," which is what the "ur" and "er" are at the top of the page.) His next sentence idea was "Some firemen have dalmatians." However, he decided not to do that one. Can you read the next sentence?
