Megan showing off her simple machine--basically a catapult that she used to fling cheerios across the room.
Matthew with his catapult.
Matthew with his ice sculpture. It is Eva's home (the girl in the book).
Close up of the home.
Megan's ice sculpture. It is the seabed floor with the mussels sticking up, ready to harvest.
Close up of Megan's.
Matthew with his hands in a bucket of ice water. One hand was in a plastic bag. The other hand was in a plastic bag that was insulted with shortening. The hand in the shortening stayed pretty warm while the other hand got quite cold!
Our big ice block that we salted and then put food coloring on to highlight the tunnels and crevices.
Here it is a bit later. It was neat to see all the tunnels forming in the ice. Matthew loved adding more salt to the ice to make it melt more/faster.
A close up so you can see the ice better.
It was a fun day playing with ice!
What fun learning activities! Can I come play at your house?
