Preschool: Very Last First Time

The last couple weeks, we've been studying "Very Last First Time." We learned about Inuit culture and lifestyle, talked about simple tools and machines and when we use them, watched a video of people collecting mussels from the seabed, played an Arctic Animal matching game, played with ice and learned about insulation. Megan and Matthew acted out a bunch of words from the book as well.

Matthew with his hands in a bucket of ice water. One hand was in a plastic bag. The other hand was in a plastic bag that was insulted with shortening. The hand in the shortening stayed pretty warm while the other hand got quite cold!

Here it is a bit later. It was neat to see all the tunnels forming in the ice. Matthew loved adding more salt to the ice to make it melt more/faster.

It was a fun day playing with ice!
