Preschool: Cranberry Thanksgiving

We've spent the past few weeks reading Cranberry Thanksgiving. It's been a fun book to read. Megan and Matthew liked that Mr. Whisker's real name is U. We learned about New England and what can be found there, discussed relationships and why we don't judge based on appearances, reviewed onomatopoeias and learned about similes. We talked about Thanksgiving and the traditions that we have associated with it. We spent a lot of time learning about cranberries, too--how they're grown, harvested and what you can make with them. We counted how many cranberries are in one cup (71 in ours), guessed whether they would float or sink and cut one in half to see all the air pockets. We also dropped them to see how high they would bounce. We made our own cranberry bog and Megan and Matthew enjoyed harvesting the berries. And we made cranberry bread and cranberry cookies. Yum!
