Preschool: Madeline

The last couple weeks we've been studying Madeline in preschool. It's been a fun unit, especially for me as we've talked a lot about Paris. Activities included talking about Paris and France and coloring a French flag, playing with a paper city Paris I cut out (it had a few notable buildings like the Eiffel Tower plus some people and stores--so much fun!), discussed and looked for symmetry, discussed routines in our lives (like the girls leaving the house at half past nine in rain or shine), did a healthy habits sheet (eating fruit and veggies, washing hands, brushing teeth and exercising) and talked about how we can help each other.

Matthew says his favorite activity that we did was matching pictures in the book to real locations in Paris (they had a sheet with the actual pictures and would point them out in the book). Megan's favorite activity was building things with little blocks. We initially used them to find out how many girls would be in lines of 2, 3, 4 and 6 if there were 12 girls total (in the book, it's 12 little girls in 2 straight lines). They then took all those blocks and had fun building!
