We got up Saturday morning, eager to start our journey to Europe. It
was a bit hard to believe that it was actually going to happen, especially
after our cancelled trip in 2020.

We took a bit of a circuitous route into London Heathrow.

Once we arrived at London Heathrow, we rode the Tube into central London
and dropped off our bags at our hotel. We then headed into the city.

U and St Paul's. It is such an iconic church!

The bells were pealing for quite some time. We went inside for
evensong which was quite nice. Lots of standing and sitting which
probably was good with the jetlag.

The area around where we stayed was called "Blackfriars." In 1278,
there was a priory established in the area in which the friars wore
robes that were predominantly black, hence the name.

Spiral staircase at our hotel. It got a lot of good use by our
family, especially Matthew who liked to race up or down the stairs
while we took the elevator. However, the elevator really was quite
slow so it was not unusual for some of us to join Matthew on the
stairs. Our room was on the 4th floor (would be considered the 5th
floor in the US).

Megan on her bed. I really like the painting above her bed.

The rest of the room. It really was a nice little hotel room in a
good location in London.

After settling in and eating the dinner we had picked up at Tesco, we
turned in for an early night.
