May 2023

May was definitely a full month for us.

May the 4th brought the end of year band concert.

Can you spy both Matthew and Megan?

Megan (and Sophia, the other clarinetist)

Megan and Matthew with their band teacher Mrs. Baldwin. In honor of May the 4th, they played a Star Wars song and brought their lightsabers.

We went to Jeremiah's after the concert. It was VERY busy!

The next day was field day. Here Megan is doing one of the relays.

Sarah called us from Georgia on May 8th and U caught a red eye out there that night. Here they are when U arrived to pick her up.

U's Uncle Mike (who lives in Atlanta and did the driving since U had very little sleep; it was about 3 hours from Atlanta to Statesboro where Sarah was waiting), Sarah and U

Piper flew them home.

Last Art Masterpiece lesson! It's bittersweet that it's over. I enjoyed participating in it over the past 7 years! The artist was Claes Oldenburg and they made soft sculpture.

Lovely Mother's Day breakfast. I love the fruit flowers. And crepes are always delicious.

Grandma and Grandpa O sent me flowers and a balloon.

Megan, Sarah, Matthew and Me

Megan gave her first talk at church that Sunday (she did an excellent job!). A friend snapped this photo of the rest of us including Sarah snuggling into Me.

In Relief Society, they honored the graduating seniors.

The Relief Society president (Sister Kirkham) and Young Women president (Sister Kubricky) came over to tie Sarah into Relief Society. Sarah had requested that this not be done at church for her.

Sarah is happy with her apron.

Tired boy!

Matthew received a Student of the Month award.

Megan received her 1500 point AR trophy from Mrs. Lundgren, the librarian. She worked really hard to earn the points. (Mrs. Walter is on the left and Mrs. Sacco is on the right.)

Megan also received a 3 million word medal. That's how many words she read this school year!

Megan went to the end of year dance. Here she is with the assistant librarian Mrs. Boggs. They had lots of good book discussions.

Matthew and Megan putting up the flag one last time. They did it most Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Thank you for volunteering with Junior Achievement in the Fall.

Sister Thomas wore this flower necklace in honor of Sarah's birthday. Sarah gave her the necklace when she was 9 or 10.

Look who Artemis found on a walk! It's Pichu.

The Whitmers came over for an afternoon. Here, U, Megan, Sarah and Austin play Coconuts.

Matthew climbed in the crate with Artemis.

Robert is now taller than Megan.

We went to Feed My Starving Children with some friends. Megan, Matthew and Me helped out at this table.

Quote from Megan: I suddenly realize that I have a small fear of trampoline parks.
This was said when we passed a trampoline park. Her fear makes sense since the last time she went to a trampoline park, she sprained her ankle. Still, it was funny to hear her say it in the matter of fact way that is so typical of Megan.
