San Diego Day 4 & 5: Beach and USS Midway

Wednesday was another beach day. It was overcast and a bit on the cool side. Megan and Matthew rode their boogie board for a bit.

U turned Matthew into a Jedi Starfighter.

They managed to keep it intact when Matthew got out.

Here it is around sunset on Wednesday evening. We took a walk down to the beach and went to get some ice cream as well.

Matthew and Me walked down to the end of the Oceanside Pier.

Thursday, we went to the USS Midway Museum. It was enjoyable. It's incredible how they launch and stop the planes in such short distances. And the logistics of running an aircraft carrier are mind boggling! We talked about where we would want to work if we were on an aircraft carrier. Megan said she would want to be a pilot or an aircraft director. Matthew would want to be a pilot or captain. U would like to be a chaplain. Me would like to be a navigator (so I could be some place I could see the sun!). We toured the island and bridge, learned about lots of different planes and saw the inner workings of the carrier--mess hall, kitchen, laundry, mail,, engine room, jail, dorm, etc. There is a very good audio tour that we enjoyed listening to.
