Grand Canyon: Sunset, Sunrise

For Sunset we headed out to Powell Point.  It sticks pretty far into the canyon so it has a nice view.

Interesting rock formations everywhere.  More than even Matthew can climb.

There was no bathroom at our stop so Megan and Melinda ran to Hopi Point and came back for sunset.

And now the sun is below the horizon.  

The rock we were standing on had lots of little inclusions.

The colors in the sky lasted a long time.

Even through the sun had set, the canyon still was quite visible (and beautiful)!

The next morning, Sarah and Me were up so decided to go see the sunrise.

It was nice to watch the sun gradually light up the canyon.

This formation is close to where we hiked the previous day.  (It's in several of the pictures from Cedar Ridge.)

When Sarah and Me were going to watch the sunrise, we saw an elk chasing a young man. It was quite scary! Thankfully, he got away safely. We took a detour in order to avoid being anywhere near that elk because it looked like it would chase anyone who came to close. Later that morning, we heard someone calling to report an aggressive elk in the area. Wildlife is wild!
