4th of July run

Grandpa and U ran in a 4 mile race in celebration of the 4th of July. The rest of us came to cheer them on.

Go Grandpa! He ran the 4 miles in about 30 minutes and was 2nd or 3rd in his age division. That's a lot faster than I could run!

Go Daddy! Daddy was not so fast as Grandpa. He definitely felt the effect of the altitude.

They had a kids fun run, too. For some reason we thought it would be one mile. Sarah was all excited about running it. Well, it ended up being maybe 100 feet. A little underwhelming for Sarah. But just the right distance for Matthew!

They both got ribbons for running in it. After the race, we rested and visited the little booths that gave out free food and balloon animals. Oh, and we ate hummus. Lots and lots of hummus. There were people walking around giving it out with pretzels. And they kept giving us more. I'm not sure how much we ate at the park but we came home with 17 containers of hummus. Which we had no problem eating in the next few days. Yum!

The kids loved their balloon animals. Sarah and Megan both got dogs and Matthew got a monkey holding a banana.
